From June 3 at 13:00 the call for applications on WiFi4EU opens and applications last until June 4 until 17:00 at Central European Summer Time. The WiFi4EU initiative promotes free Wi-Fi access to citizens in public spaces, including parks, squares, public buildings, libraries, health centers and museums in municipalities across Europe. The WiFi4EU initiative provides municipalities with the opportunity to apply for vouchers worth € 15,000. Vouchers should be used to install Wi-Fi equipment in public areas within the municipality that are not already equipped with a free Wi-Fi access point.
Given the crisis caused by the COVID 19 virus, which has affected municipalities and regions across Europe, the European Commission has decided to grant an extension of the installation time to all WiFi4EU users on Call 1, 2 and 3. This will allow each municipality to complete its projects. The implementation period approved for finalizing and declaring the installation and operation of the WiFi4EU network is extended by an additional 8 months.
