“MerKAsur” held in centre of Karlovac

An economic event "MerKAsur" was held in Karlovac on Friday, organized by EDIC Karlovac and the Public Institution Regional Development Agency of Karlovac County (JURRA), marking the signing of an agreement between the European Union and the South American Free Trade bloc. This agreement was signed after 20 years of negotiation and should open the door to the establishment of one of the world's largest free trade markets. Thus, the Croatian economy is opening a market of 780 million inhabitants, which represents a great economic potential and an opportunity for the national economy. EDIC Karlovac and JURRA in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Commission to the Republic of Croatia, in this way, informed, presented and approximated the possibilities offered by this Agreement. The event started at 9:45 am at Matija Gubec Square, where businessmen and exporters from Karlovac County presented themselves, and after the formal opening of the event with Argentine Tango, a dance coming from one of the countries of Mercosur (Argentina) held a round table on the topic "Benefits of the EU-MERCOSUR Agreement" attended by Judita Cuculić Župa from the Representation of the European Commission in Croatia, Zrinka Horvatić from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ante Perica from the Croatian Chamber of Commerce Zagreb and Marilia de Oliveira from Marzito Travel doo The moderator of the round table was Damir Furdek from the CCC-Karlovac Regional Office. The opening speech was opened by Vilko Klasan, Director of JURRA, Deputy Mayor Andreja Navijalić, Mayor Damir Jelic and Judita Cuculić Župa from the Representation of the European Commission to the Republic of Croatia.
The second part of the event was joined by Mr Ognian Zlatev, Head of the Representation of the European Commission to the Republic of Croatia. After the MerKAsur event, we hung out for lunch in the cozy ambience of the Kastel restaurant on the Old Town of Dubovac and visited the Aquatika - Karlovac Freshwater Aquarium. Along with Mr. Zlateva and representatives of the event organizers, lunch and a visit to Aquatica were joined by panelists from the MerKAsur event (CCE Zagreb, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, EC Representation in the Republic of Croatia, Director Marzito Travel doo and CCE - Karlovac Regional Office) , representatives of the city of Karlovac and the city of Ozalj. All present, and in particular Mr Zlatev, liked Aquatika and announced a re-visit and further cooperation.
